How much does a gold piece weigh? What is its size? How many coins can you fit in a chest? If you like coins the size of American Gold Eagle coins or the Spanish "piece of eight" coin, then you like coins the weight of an ounce.
D&D 5e made coins smaller. 50 coins of any type (gold pieces, silver pieces, copper pieces, platinum pieces) weigh 1 pound. Pathfinder 2e has coins at a very similar weigh-in of 1/3rd of an ounce regardless of the type. Those coins are very small.
Most of the time coin weight can be ignored. However, it is nice to know how many coins fit in an chest to make it overflowing.
