Kahiri (Liontaurs)

Appearance & Anatomy

Kahiri look like a four-legged lion from the shoulders down, with a more humanoid—but still feline—upper torso rising where a lion’s neck would be. Their faces blend elven refinement with leonine features, sporting pointed ears, slitted pupils, and occasionally light fur patterns around the cheeks and temples. Their forepaws have flexible digits akin to short, wide fingers, letting them grip weapons or manipulate objects.

Culture & Mindset

Hailing from savanna-based kingdoms or forested hunting grounds, Kahiri value personal freedom, pride in one’s abilities, and communal safeguarding of territory. They lack the half-horse features of standard centaurs; instead, their leonine shape grants them a stealthier presence in tall grasslands.

Fitting Into Humanoid Society

Adaptive Equipment. Kahiri typically wear barding-like armor on their quadruped lion half, with simpler leather or cloth garments on their upper torso.

Roles & Reputations. They often become mercenary scouts, rangers, or frontier guardians. Some might join a knightly order that welcomes exotic cavalry or beast-riders, though Kahiri generally see themselves as equals rather than mounts.

Public Perception. Many see them as proud but fair-minded. In elven realms, they may be viewed as graceful curiosities, while dwarves might appreciate their ferocity in battle.

Regal Protectors of the Plains

Kahiri combine the hindquarters of a lion-like creature with a humanoid upper body that retains subtle feline features—short fur, tufted ears, and golden or green eyes. Though quadrupedal, they have flexible front paws resembling broad hands, enabling them to grasp weapons or spellcasting foci. A proud mane (on some males and females) and a lithe physique complete the regal appearance.

Traditionally roaming open grasslands or savannas, Kahiri rely on unity within small prides for mutual defense. Their culture focuses on personal freedom, the joy of the hunt, and the bonds formed through shared struggle. Within humanoid cities, Kahiri may serve as scouts, mercenaries, or storytellers, offering both martial prowess and warm companionship to those who befriend them.
